Rich from We Create* has been invited to become a Fellow of the RSA...PARTY!
The Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures, and Commerce (RSA). For over 250 years the RSA has been a cradle of enlightenment thinking and a force for social progress.
The RSA's approach is multi-disciplinary, politically independent, and combines cutting edge research and policy development with practical action to support its 27,000 fellows to help change the world.

Birmingham Zine Festival...poster PARTY!

The first annual Birmingham Zine Festival is going to be held on the 10th-12th September.
We Create* has a little stall in the Victoria on Saturday 11th - to retail designs developed by local young designers and run a pin badge making stall and workshop...PARTY!
We spotted the latest addition to publicity material for the event - a fold out information sheet and poster...zinetastic!

Handmade - Birmingham Bullring Market PARTY!

We Create* poping along the opening weekend of Handmade to take a look and get a few snaps!
Handmade is a new section set-up beside the Birmingham Bullring Market to sell designs developed by local design, artists and creatives - PARTY!
The market was set-up by Creative Open Workshop (COW) down in the Custard Factory that have been running successful market there for quite a bit - it's great to see they have managed to develop a central market space in Birmingham.
Creative Open Workshop (COW) also run little craft-based workshops on the days the Handmade Birmingham market is open.
Stalls cost £35 for a Saturday and £25 for Sunday - the 5ft tables will be provided within shiny new 10x10ft marquees.
The first market starts Saturday 28th and 29th August...10-5pm Saturday and 11-5pm Sunday.
Designer, makers, artists, and creative can enquire about stalls

A Vintage Birmingham market will also be run on the Sunday and sets out to combine the best of contemporary music, fashion, art, design, and culture from the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s in the open air...11am – 5pm.

Stirchley Happenings Community Market

Stirchley Happening - a little community group in that area of Birmingham has started a community market for local people and young designers to sell products, produce, and designs in the car park of Stirchley United Working Mens Club...PARTY!
The Stirchley Community Market is held the last Tuesday of the month 4-8pm.
We Create* went up, down, sideways?...to check it out and see a fellow social entrepreneur selling cup cakes - yum PARTY!
Frost and Snow Cup Cakes is a homeless cup cake bakery training individuals in support accommodation around Birmingham interested in baking, icing, and yummy treaty goodness!
We Create* highly recommends the coconut cup cakes...yum!

The first We Create* annual report has been produced highlighting the organisations social and financial achievements for the last 12-month and also future project developments for 2010/11.
As always we want to continue to help promote and develop projects to retail designs developed by young up-and-coming British fashion designers - as well as help individuals from disadvantaged and socially excluded backgrounds interested in fashion and design.
We Create* aims to continue to develop a sustainable solution to this until the right platform and model is here.

We Are One Today - PARTY!

We Create* is one year old today - PARTY!
It was 365 days since we started the first project by opening a We Create* pop-up shop in Birmingham to retail designs developed by local young up-and-coming designers.
Since then we've run another pop-up shop and design studio in Wolverhampton, 12 pop-up stalls, swap shop event and a series of creative workshops for young people in the local community interested in fashion and design.
We are in the process of compiling the first We Create* Annual Report highlighting the projects achievements as well as future up-and-coming projects for 2010/11.

Rich In-house Social Entrepreneur for Reach the People Charity
19th July 2010
Rich from We Create* started his part-time position, three days a week, in the Social Investment team as an In-house Social Entrepreneur for Midlands-based charity Reach the People Charity.
The charity runs 40 services across the region, employs 700+ people, and turnsover £15+million a year.
Rich's roles and responsibilities revolve around designing, developing, and implementing large-scale projects and social enterprise to support the individuals from disadvantaged and socially excluded backgrounds the charity supports.
Rich continues to spend the rest of his time running and developing We Create*.

The event showcased young up-and-coming artists around Wolverhampton on Friday 2nd July 7-11pm at Newhampton Arts Centre - MAP.
There was guest DJs, a students bar, and stalls selling handmade products by local designer makers - all for a £2 entrance.
We Create* ran a pop-up stall along with Cut-Out.
